Tis Geschrieben 23. September 2012 Geschrieben 23. September 2012 Hi Lorenzo, thanks a lot for the bunch of interesting shots from far-away China! If I hadn't just returned from Beijing myself just three days ago, I'd find them even more interesting! But I'm sure many others do...! As it seems that you just spotted from inside the terminal, here's a little heads-up on the very easy spotting possibilities from outside - just in case you'll be travelling through PEK again, or anyone else reading this does: If the northbound runways (36L/R, 01) are in use, very nice approach shots (and decent line-up shots, depending on heat haze from parked aircraft) can be had from the traffic ramps leading up to the departure level of Terminal 3. In the first half of the day you want to be standing on the western ramp taking shots towards Rwy36R (the center runway), in the second half of the day it's the eastern ramp and shots onto Rwy01 (the easternmost runway). It seems like this is okay with the police. Multiple times they stopped and sent everyone away who had parked their car there (and even fined some of them), but they never even approached us, even though we were only standing some 10 meters next to the poor car owners and were taking pictures the whole day long. Here three shots for explaining purposes: On the western ramp, my friend looking onto the line-up. The Air China 777 you see parked at the gate at that point pretty much ruined the line-up view because of the heat haze from its APU though... Looking onto the full holding bays for 36R and some aircraft parked in the back (before the 777 was at the gate :)) Approach shot 01 at a great angle in the afternoon. The same applies to approaches 36R in the morning PEK surprised me looking and feeling much safer and easier to spot than I'd ever exepected - I'll sure be back! And sorry for hi-jacking your thread. But after I've found almost no infos on Beijing when I searched for my own trip, I'm keen to pass the knowledge on! :D Salutazioni da Zurigo, Tis Zitieren
