I've been following your great forum for a while now, but finally decided to contribute some photographs myself, too.

 

I'm writing most of this post in English because my Schwyzerdütsch is rather limited, but I hope that the photographs mostly speak for themselves. :)

 

In 2007, Finnish Air Force organized their annual training at this facility that is basically a typical Finnish rural road with somewhat wider paved surface than normal roads have.

 

Photographs in this thread were taken here, a view courtesy of Google Streetview.

 

But enough talk, let's have some photographs!

 

Basically all the aircraft were making touch and go landings.

This dual seater Hornet did a landing to the arrestor cable.

Later in the day, the clouds cleared for moments of sunlight.

 

Oh, and that landing to the arrestor cable. This is what it looks like. The hook scratches the asphalt for few meters before it catches the cable.

Wasn't it you who helped me out during my search for information about Rovaniemi? Anyway - I hope you're welcomed just as warmly here as I was over at the other Flightforum, the .fi-one :D

 

I'm not too much into military aviation, but the amazing photo compositions still got me (especially pics #2 and 7): The stunning light, the dark sky, the trees - but most of all the setting on the idyllic road!

 

Looking forward to more contributions from the polar circle. Thanks, and maybe see you in December :p

Almost from the polar circle ;)

 

Maybe I'll post something from my home airport...someday.

 

Let's hope I'll be able to make to Rovanimeni this winter, I missed 2009-2010 season completely so maybe 2010-2011 will be better. :)

FiAF does not operate F-16's so...no. :) Of course I've photographed various F-16's in airshows but that's nothing like this...
