Diese Einladung zum 2009 PRESIDENTS TROPHY AIR RACE erfolgte via Motorflugverband. Ich gebe sie einfach mal weiter

It is with great pleasure that the SOUTH AFRICAN POWER FLYING ASSOCIATION invites your members to participate in the 2009 PRESIDENTS TROPHY AIR RACE.

While the event has for the last 71 years been mainly a South African event, we would like to extend this invitation to our International friends and fellow aviators.

We would be please if you could forward this email to your members, or extend this invitation in any other way you choose.

The PRESIDENTS TROPHY AIR RACE is the largest most Prestigious Air Race of its kind in the world. It is steeped in history and provides one of the most colourful events on the South African Aviation Calendar. The event has been held every year for the past 71 years. Each year it takes place at a new venue and the 2009 Event will be held in Tempe Airfield, Bloemfontein from 28th – 31st May 2009.

It is strictly an amateur event that has traditionally been self funded from entry fees. The Race is open to any fixed wing, piston powered, aircraft capable of maintaining 100 kts and over. Each aircraft is handicapped to its particular fastest speed. The Race is held over two days. On the first day, the fastest aircraft takes off first. The second day, the aircraft take off slowest first but at a time determined by handicap, such that over two days each aircraft has the same finishing time. The Race objective is that all 100 participating aircraft cross the finish line at exactly the same time on the final day.

Air racing is an adrenaline sport, which attracts the crème de la crème of Extreme Aviators from all over the country. SAPFA would like to extend this invitation to International Pilots from all countries worldwide.

Participating Pilots range from 100 Hours PPL’s to experienced ATPL’s. The event requires a 2 man team of Pilot & Navigator.
