Mai 2005 President visits western region AssA-Irada 20/05/2005 18:06 Chairman of the AzAL State Concern Jahangir Asgarov said that 1,000-1,500 people will be involved in the construction of the new airport with 3,000 meter-long runway. $69.5 million will be spent on the airport and more than 200 jobs will open after it is commissioned, he said. Asgarov noted that flights will be carried out from the airport in two directions – mainly through the Ganja-Moscow-Ganja, Ganja-Kiev-Ganja, Ganja-St.-Petersburg-Ganja, Ganja-Gars and Ganja-Tabriz routes onboard Airbus and Antonov aircraft that will be purchased shortly. President Aliyev said that the runway of the Ganja airport must be 3,300 meter in length, just like in Baku and Nakhchivan. He issued instructions to the leadership of the Baiwa power grid to install a new transformer and construct a substation in order to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the airport. Mayor of Ganja said local workers should be involved in the construction operations. The President further gave instructions to the Baiwa company in this regard. Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh problem, President Aliyev said the conflict will be settled within the framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. “Certain progress has been achieved in peace talks. Economic development in the country has contributed greatly to this.” Recalling his meetings with heads of different states at the recent Council of Europe summit in Warsaw, Aliyev stated that world countries back Azerbaijan’s fair position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Touching upon social problems in the country, the President said new small power stations will be constructed to solve the existing problems with energy and gas supplies. The problems with energy and gas must be ended in Azerbaijan, which is an oil-rich country, and this will be done by 2006, Aliyev said. The President also noted that extensive steps will be taken to reduce poverty. Aliyev underlined that everything depends on how officials fulfill their duties in regions and highly assessed the work underway in Ganja. Afterwards, President Aliyev met with local residents and visited Javad Khan’s tomb and the Shah Abbas Mosque. He also got familiar with the activity of the clay plant, the largest enterprise in the city. Zitieren Link zu diesem Kommentar Auf anderen Seiten teilen Mehr Optionen zum Teilen...
